About Carolina

Carolina Cambra (she/her) MA, LPC, NCC is a bilingual, licensed, and board-certified counselor. She has worked in various mental health settings such as hospitals, clinics, non-profit organizations, mental health start-up groups, international NGO’s, and government agencies. A large focus of her work includes family therapy, stress reduction, developing healthy coping skills, chronic suicidal ideation, crisis management, acculturative stress, maternal mental health, acculturation, grief, and loss. Carolina is passionate about mental health practices and how it pertains to the Hispanic community.

Educational Information

Carolina attended Rhode Island School of Design and completed her Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in psychology from Brown Univeristy. She went on to the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology where she completed her Master’s program in International Psychology of Trauma and Disaster. Her graduate school thesis focused on immigration and acculturative stress. She is trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (TF-CBT), Collaborative, Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for suicide prevention (BCBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Experience

Primarily based in Colorado, Carolina has 15 years of experience helping families and individuals find healing and understanding. She has worked at various organizations within the mental health field locally and international placements. In addition to providing clinical care, Carolina has a strong background in program development including opening multiple centers supporting refugee families and children. Carolina serves on a variety of committees promoting and advocating mental health issues affecting Hispanic Youth.
